To commemorate an adventurous operation during the Great War, a pontoon bridge was constructed in the Schelde. My impressions are shown here, in two parts.
On Friday, I shot the preparations leading up to the actual event and opening ceremony (shots 1-46). This shows the work of the joint Belgian-Dutch team of military engineers, around sunset.
On Saturday before dawn, I witnessed the rebuilding of the bridge (after being anchored for night and tide) and the first crossing by visitors, as well as their enjoyment of the sunrise (shots 47-end).
Inspiring report Roel, really original. Better than what was on the news. Thank you for this.
