Images from the festive but determined mood on Martyrs' Square in Beirut, Lebanon, in the very first hour of 2020.
The optimism was contagious.
Processing these images, I am thinking back of the friends we made in Lebanon during our stay.
It's painful to know what they had already gone through, and - with hindsight - what 2020 was yet to inflict on them.
