Impressions from a visit to the International Sculpture Workshop/Camp Skulptur-Lichting hosted by sculptor Tobel and his actress-wife in Valley (Oberbayern).
I was struck most by the work-in-progress of artists Annika Schüler and Niels Klaunick (a ceramist and an actor - inspiring combination).
They were creating a tree made of iron branches with ceramic leaves, intended (when finished) to be taken over by nature (and inevitable decay).
The end result will probably look fine, but the actual creation had its own temporary poetry: a heavy industrial process to create fragility.
In a dystopian but not altogether unlikely future, this is how children might imagine trees used to be made.
