Impressions from the summer spectacle "Bravo Mr. Bruegel" by theatre collective Laika in museum Bokrijk (part of a larger, interactive and quite wonderful exhibition on the life, times and work of Bruegel).
Theatre of the Senses "Laika" presents a burlesque spectacle that seeks to bring to life Bruegel's painting "The Battle between Carnival and Lent", while including sideshows and current aspects.
The result is a captivating performance filled with songs, cool choreography and slapstick comedy action that manages a delicate balancing act between crude humour and deeper meaning.
