The annual "Night of the Proms" concert series in Antwerp aim to be a mix of classical music with classic pop music. Over the years, the emphasis has shifted from the classical repertoire to the pop element.
Nowadays, Il Novecento symphonic orchestra and Fine Fleur choir still play a major part. They perform some classical highlights, but are most often accompanying a selection of classic pop artists.
The 2011 edition brought Seal, Angie Stone and Mick Hucknall (of Simply Red fame) to Antwerp, where they performed alongside the glamour sopranos of Div4s and surprise act Koen Buysse (of Zornik).
John Miles is a staple guest of the series, and the all-Antwerp "Discobaar A Moeder" injected an overdose of humour and soul.
