]]>Images from Centre Pompidou Metz (France), where we visited the "Bivouac" retrospective of interior designers Bouroullec and an extensive collection of the "Wall Drawings 1968-2007" by Sol LeWitt.
As always, I was mostly interested in the interaction of the viewers with the art. I travelled light on this occasion, so all images were made with Panasonic LX3 (handheld, no flash).
The very last photo of this series is made by photographer Philippe Cousin (the subject of images 33-38, who wanted to return the favour, with his Leica M9). I just cropped it a bit.

]]>Impressions of the "Azencross" Cyclo-cross race in Loenhout. All images shot with ZD8mmFE, ZD12-60mm and ZD5-200mm on Olympus E-5 camera. B&W conversion, added grain and toning done in Lightroom3.
The first 25 images are from the Ladies' Race. The Elite male cyclists are from image 27 until the end.

Docu: Circus Life, May 2011

]]>Circus Rose Marie Malter granted me the opportunity to witness life in the circus for an afternoon, with full access to all areas. I enjoyed great examples of timeless showmanship in the ring.
More importantly, I was allowed to document life behind the curtains. Backstage, the artists prepare for their act, and enjoy quiet private moments between friends and family.
They all have a story to tell of the joy and the hardship that are both part of life in the circus.
Since this was the last day of their stay in my hometown, it was also a time of packing up and getting ready to go. I was amazed at how fast and efficient they break down the big circus tent and the whole village.
This was done in a few short hours, by the artists themselves and with the capable help of their small but dedicated crew, some of them volunteers. That same night, they moved to the next town.
For their openness and hospitality, I want to extend warmest thanks to ringmaster Pierrot, the talented acrobats Sandro & Natalia and to quiet but graceful Catia.
Also thanks to Johnny "Lucky Luke" Fischer who is still going strong after 55 years of touring, and of course to the classic clowns of Trio Balder.
They all have put a big smile on my face … and not only in the ring.

Animals: Icelandic Horses, Jul 2011

]]>Results from a dawn shoot on an Icelandic Horse Farm.
The horses are used to humans approaching them gently, so I could get quite close. Light was not optimal.
I'll finish this gallery with a few B&W conversions of favourite captures.
